From consultation to clinical record in four steps
No forms, no templates to fill in by hand, and nothing enters the record without your explicit approval.
- 01
Confirm consent, then record
Owner consent is captured and logged before recording can start. Tap once and speak.
- 02
Dictate through the consult
Talk as you normally would. Pause and resume freely — no keywords, no rigid phrasing.
- 03
Review the transcript
Transcription returns in seconds, tuned for veterinary terminology. Correct anything before generating.
- 04
Generate, edit, approve
AI structures the note. You review every section and approve it into the clinical record.
Built around how vets actually work
Every capability exists to remove typing from the consult room without removing your judgement from the record.
Dictate naturally
Speak as you would to a colleague. Kalico handles accents and clinical shorthand without a fixed script.
Veterinary transcription
Breed names, drug names and dosages are corrected against a veterinary lexicon rather than a general-purpose one.
Structured SOAP notes
Subjective, Objective, Assessment and Plan, populated from what you actually said — never invented.
You approve every note
Nothing reaches the clinical record unreviewed. Edit any section, then approve it explicitly.
Discharge summaries
Generate owner-facing discharge guidance alongside the clinical note, in plain language.
Copy, share or export
Formatting survives the clipboard — paste straight into your practice management system.
A clinical record has to be defensible
Kalico is built so that what reaches the record is auditable and what does not belong there is destroyed.
Audio never outlives transcription
The recording is deleted from storage the moment a transcript returns. There is no archive to subpoena, and nothing to recover from a backup.
An audit trail you can defend
Consent grants and note approvals are written to an append-only audit log. Entries are never deleted — they exist to be produced if a case is ever questioned.
Nothing enters the record unreviewed
AI drafts; you approve. A note only becomes part of the clinical record when a veterinarian explicitly approves it, and missing information is flagged rather than invented.
Keys stay on the server
API credentials live in server-side secrets only — never in the mobile bundle or browser code. Sessions expire after 24 hours of inactivity.
Common questions
What happens to my audio recordings?
Audio is deleted immediately and permanently after transcription completes. Nothing is stored beyond that point — not on our servers, not in backups. You can verify this in our privacy policy.
Is my patient data secure?
All data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 via Supabase. Sessions expire after 24 hours of inactivity. Owner consent is logged per session as a medico-legal record. API keys are stored in server-side secrets only — never in the app bundle.
How accurate is the transcription?
Our transcription engine handles medical terminology and varied accents well, with breed and drug names corrected against a veterinary lexicon. You can always review and edit the transcript before generating the note — nothing goes into your record without your approval.
Does it work for all species and specialties?
Yes. Kalico is built for companion animals and adapts to routine, emergency, and surgical consultations alike.
